Overview:
- ARTISANAL SOURDOUGH BREAD (1 Loaf) - Our sourdough breads are made through a lengthy fermentation process. Made with flour, water, salt, time & love.
- ARTISANAL SIMIT BREAD (3 Pieces) - A ring shaped "street bread" of Turkish origin. Crunchy, chewy, and crusted with toasted sesame seeds. Simit is NOT made with sourdough.
- LIVE SOURDOUGH STARTER (4 ounces / 115 grams) - Each purchase of our high-quality live starter includes in-depth instructions from Hatice, which will explain how to feed your starter and help it thrive so you can master the art of sourdough at home.
ABOUT SOURDOUGH:
Sourdough bread makes gluten more digestible, as the fermentation process pre-digests the gluten, breaking down some of the indigestible proteins and making the bread easier to stomach. This can eliminate effects like bloating. The lengthy fermentation process breakdowns certain types of carbohydrates (FODMAP) in the wheat, so that your digestion doesn’t have to work so hard.
The longer your dough is fermented, the greater the proportion of soluble fibre in the bread. Sourdough also has a high resistance to starch. This combination of soluble fibre and starch resistance generates a feeling of satiety, which keeps you fuller, longer. Fermentation also increases the levels of organic acids in the bread, which slows down the breakdown of the carbohydrate in the body, helping to stabilise blood sugar levels and promote sustained energy.
